Sorting Through More Than Cards: What Deserves to Stay?

With Bri Weekly | Week 6

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about what it means to be intentional with the things, people, and opportunities in my life.

This week, that showed up in ways I did not necessarily expect.

I spent hours sorting through about 300 trading cards and deciding what belonged in my personal collection, what I wanted to hold onto because I believe it still has potential, what I could give to my kids, and what I was ready to sell.

And somehow, that felt very on brand for this season of my life.

What am I keeping? What still has potential? What can I give? And what am I ready to let go of?

It sounds like a question about cards, but I realized it applies to so much more.

With some recent health concerns with my kids, I spent time figuring out meal options that could support what each of them needs while also accounting for all of the allergies across the four of us. And let me tell you, when you put that entire list together, meal planning becomes quite the puzzle.

So I researched, reorganized my grocery budget around the new plan, and gave my kids meal options they can make themselves.

Yes, I have teens who cook. I am absolutely claiming that parenting win. 😂

I also got to slow down and spend some quality time with my mom. I made her a wreath after stopping her from buying one the week before because I knew I could make something in the colors she actually loved.

We shopped, hunted for deals at Marshall’s, had lunch, and ended up back at her place watching TV together.

Nothing extravagant. Just time together.

And sometimes that is exactly what I want to keep making room for.

Even my fortune cookie seemed to understand the assignment. 😂 It read, “Your next decision will deliver unexpected happiness.” And considering the season I’m in right now, I definitely took a picture of that one.

Creativity also seems to be finding its way into almost everything I do lately.

I used AI to visualize how I could finish a wall in my kitchen, which has quickly become one of my favorite ways to think through home projects before actually committing to them.

I joined my first trading card break on my own and somehow managed to pull a 1/10 Aaron Judge Cactus Jack card.

Judge is one of my personal collection players, so yes, I was VERY excited. 😂

Of the 30 cards coming from the break, about half are making their way into my personal collection or Keep pile, which feels like a pretty successful first experience.

And then there is With Bri.

I spent hours working on my website again this week, and there is something about putting all of those pieces together that brings me a ridiculous amount of joy.

  • Maybe it is because I love solving puzzles.

  • Maybe it is because I love creating in Canva.

  • Maybe it is because I finally have a reason to start putting some of the 78,000+ photos sitting in my camera roll to work.

  • Or maybe it is because I am building something that feels like me.

This week also reminded me to stay open to people.

I woke up one morning to messages from connections sharing roles they thought would be a good fit for me. One conversation I initially assumed was going to be a sales pitch turned into someone advocating for me within their own company and reaching out to HR on my behalf.

Someone I barely knew.

Someone whose connection request I simply decided to accept.

That stuck with me.

Because while I am learning to be more intentional about what I keep and what I let go of, I am also learning not to close myself off to the unexpected.

Sometimes a connection is worth accepting. Sometimes a hobby deserves more space. Sometimes a quiet day with Mom matters more than anything on the calendar. Sometimes your own ideas deserve the same consistency you have spent years giving everyone else’s.

Six weeks in, the theme keeps repeating. Sort through it, decide what's worth keeping, and build on that.

And sometimes the question really is as simple as:

  • What am I keeping?

  • What still has potential?

  • What can I give?

  • And what am I finally ready to let go of?

I think I am still figuring out the answers.

But I am becoming much more intentional about asking the questions.

With Bri, it’s a vibe. ✨
